The popularity of unmanned aerial systems (UAS) or most commonly known as drones are on the rise. According to Gartner, a research & advisory company, revenue growth rate is expected to reach $11.2 Billion by 2020. In 2017 alone, one drone company brought in a staggering $2.7 Billion in sales or over 70 percent of the drone (UAS) market. Who is it? It’s no other than Da-Jiang Innovation or DJI. Here at Aerial Media Pros we take pride in providing the best customer experience by only offering the best UAS products for your use case and at the best price. Give us a call to learn more about how drones can save time and increase efficiency.
What DJI drone to buy?
Founded in 2006, the Chinese-based company’s drone line-up is segmented into three different tiers – consumer, professional, and enterprise. A consumer drone often referred to as personal drone and it is specifically engineered for mass market ease of use. These drones are great for taking steady aerial images and video. The DJI Mavic Pro, Mavic Pro 2, DJI Air, DJI Spark and DJI Phantom 4 drones fall under this category. Professional drones on the other hand such as the DJI Inspire 2, are for experts where image quality and flight speed is key. Compared to consumer drones, these drones have better and more advanced features, such as longer flight times, swappable cameras, faster flight speeds, and increased obstacle avoidance sensing. Here at Aerial Media Pros we focus on the Enterprise UAS such as the Mavic 2 Enterprise or Matrice 210 RTK V2.
What is the best thermal drone?
The best thermal drone is dependent on your use case and budget. If the purpose of the UAS to identify differences and at a reasonable price then a Mavic 2 Enterprise Dual is a great option. Although this drone has a smaller infrared sensor resolution the Mavic 2 Enterprise dual can do the job for spotting larger heat temperature differences. If the need of the operation to detect smaller temperature changes then a larger infrared sensor is going to be needed. For this DJI and FLIR offer the Zenmuse XT and XT2 infrared cameras. The difference between these two is that the XT2 has a 4K optical camera in the same camera housing as the infrared sensor. These two cameras together can combine images to make infrared images much easier to understand. DJI/FLIR call this MSX or multispectral imaging. The Zenmuse XT only has an infrared sensor. The Zenmuse XT and XT2 come in two higher resolution and refresh rate options compared to the Mavic 2 Enterprise. The XT is compatible with the Inspire 1 and the Matrice 200 series, and Matrice 600 Pro. The XT2 is only compatible with the Matrice 200 series and Matrice 600 Pro.
What makes the Enterprise UAS(drones) different?
Enterprise drones are engineered to be used as a tool for daily work. This means multiple payload configurations, universal ports for third party sensor integration, self-warming batteries, and weather sealing for work during all seasons. For public safety (SAR, Police, fire fighting) we recommend the DJI Matrice 210 V2 with a Zenmuse XT2 thermal camera and a DJI Zenmuse Z30 zoom camera.
Why DJI is the best?
With more than 70% in sales 2017, what makes DJI the best drone brand in the market today? They were the first brand to package a consumer-ready, easy to fly drone with outstanding image and transmission capabilities all at a reasonable price. Since then they've built a drone empire with a strong and loyal community. Since then other companies have tried to enter the UAS market with little success. The brand has also diversified their products tapping into different target consumers, whether it be action cameras or gimbal stabilizers. A notable company who continues to innovate is Parrot. Parrot makes the ANAFI which comes in a thermal version and is similar to the Mavic 2 Enterprise Dual except without the modular attachments. Parrot also owns SenseFly which makes well known and high quality fixed wing UAVs.
How do DJI drones work?
The thing that makes DJI Drones so user-friendly obstacle avoidance and vision sensors on the drone themselves. These sensors work together to keep the drone in one place. Giving the user more time to thing about where they want to go instead of compensating for small movements in the drones flight. The onboard sensors make micro adjustments to the motors to ensure that the drone does not move even if your hands are off the controller and there are 15 mph winds. The flight controller (brain) receives information from these sensors and then sends out information to the ESCs (electronic speed controls) then the motors to make minor adjustments in the air to compensate for external factors. These sensors in combination with a superior image transmission system provide users with the confidence they need to fly and gain information.
Are DJI drones hard to fly?
With the latest obstacle avoidance and vision positioning sensors, DJI drones are extremely easy to fly. In fact, DJI drones are hardcoded so that if the drone becomes disconnected from the controller during flight the drone will autonomously fly back to where it took off. These drones also have intelligent flight modes such as active track, tapfly, and hand gesture control.
How DJI Care Refresh works?
If you break your drone, send it in to DJI to get a new one, even if it is water damaged. We would recommend this since a drone is a big investment, and there is unforeseen circumstances while flying in the air even with all the obstacle avoidance sensors. We also repair some DJI drones in house depending on parts availability.
