One of DJI’s most powerful aerial cameras, the Zenmuse X5S is precisely engineered to deliver superb results for a wide variety of aerial photography and videography applications. Equipped with an upgraded 20.8-megapixel Micro 4/3 CMOS sensor, this camera offers a high dynamic range of 12.8 stops, which allows it to effectively handle high-contrast scenes and capture images and videos that retain a wealth of detail in all areas of the image. Along with a significantly improved the signal-to-noise ratio and enhanced color sensitivity, the X5S is able to produce sharp, low-noise imagery in various lighting situations. In addition to its impressive photography capabilities, the Zenmuse X5S is a highly effective aerial imaging tool for professional filmmakers due to its superior video resolution. With the integrated CineCore 2.0 image processing system on the Inspire 2, it can record movie-quality videos in 5.2K CinemaDNG and Apple ProRes, as well as 4K video in H.264 and H.265 (both at a bitrate of up to 100Mbps). Having a fixed lens can be limiting for users who want more creative flexibility when it comes to their final output. The Zenmuse X5S can be used with a variety of compatible interchangeable micro 4/3 lenses, allowing you to choose the most appropriate lens type or focal length to fit your shooting needs. It currently supports eight standard micro 4/3 prime and zoom lenses from Olympus, Panasonic Lumix, and DJI, with focal lengths ranging from 9 to 45mm.
With fully integrated gimbals from DJI and thermal cores from FLIR, having thermal images from a drone is becoming mainstream. Infrared cameras usually detect radiation in the long-infrared range of the electromagnetic spectrum (roughly 9,000–14,000 nanometers or 9–14 µm) and produce images of that radiation, called thermograms. Since infrared radiation is emitted by all objects with a temperature above absolute zero, thermography makes it possible to see one's environment with or without visible illumination. The amount of radiation emitted by an object increases with temperature; therefore, thermography allows one to see variations in temperature. When viewed through a thermal imaging camera, warm objects stand out well against cooler backgrounds; humans and other warm-blooded animals become easily visible against the environment, day or night. As a result, thermography is particularly useful to public safety and inspection companies.
Full compatibility with DJI SDK allows the Zenmuse XT to have complete access to some of the best DJI drone features, such as Intelligent Flight Modes, long-range video transmission, and flight customization and control over the camera subsystems, including the gimbal. It’s fully compatible with the Matrice 100, Matrice 200 Series, Matrice 600, and Inspire 1, with which the Zenmuse XT can provide detailed thermal aerial imagery within seconds, take off in record time, and go on long flights (up to 35 minutes). The XT is avialble in a wide range of configurations including the image sensor size, lens configuration, and radiometric format.
The dual sensor configuration combins FLIR’s Tau 2 thermal sensor and 12MP visual camera. With FLIR MSX quickly interpret data with details from the visual image overlaid on the thermal data stream. The XT2 utilizes the highest end Tau 2 sensors, with all models having radiometric capabilities – storing temperature data in every pixel – and a max 30 Hz thermal frame rate. The XT2’s dual sensors are housed within a weather resistance encasing, providing an IP44 level rating. This makes it the first DJI camera to match the M200 Series’ rugged build, combining to form a drone solution that can fly through light rains.
Temp Alarm: Don’t miss a thing with instant notifications when object temperatures exceed pre-set parameters. Heat Track: Capture the most critical information by automatically locking the XT2 onto the hottest object in view. Temp Check: Tap a point or select an area for real-time temperature measurements. Quick Track: Select an object to lock the XT2 onto it, simplifying missions in complex environments. Isotherms: Focus on a specific temperature band to identify what’s important. Color Palettes: Adjust the colors applied to the thermal data to easily interpret what’s happening. PiP Options: Optimize how you view the thermal and visual feeds - side by side, and overlapping imagery.
